Blatant disregard of people looking to grow and overworking/underpaying said people. There is no clear career path for anyone here, unless you are already at least a manager. Saw some people get promoted every year for a few years and others have no mention of promotion or career path at all. Company claims to want to work with employees to help them grow, this is false. They will encourage you to submit job proposals and ask for what you want and they will say thank you and do nothing about it. Was told during a review that if I was “unhappy with what I was doing at the company, that they suggest I find work elsewhere”.
Extreme favoritism of those who report to upper management.
Claims to have salary competitive to the city, this is false. Associate workers are paid below what others in a similar positions would be paid in the city, or even other companies on Long Island.
They will not hire the skilled and experienced employees they need to support their departments. They would rather leave one person in charge 30 things instead of spending the money to invest in a person or several people who know what they’re actually doing. Not to mention that they are too cheap to hire assists or interns to support departments who need it, and some departments really really need support.
Managers are not experienced and need to be trained on their managerial skills, and how to work with team members they do not always agree with, and in working with others who work differently than they do.
Serious lack of communication between departments, and from upper management. Things are not made clear or are made convoluted because of lack of communication / honesty / transparency.
No company culture. Very few young people work here. Friendships / good strong relationships are far and few between.
Company stands with no causes or beliefs, except for St.Judes, which is great. But this is a beauty company that can’t speak to being an ally with the LGBTQ+ community. Company refuses to work with models who are “too black”, or don’t fit a more typical Eurocentric look. Extremely disappointing. Not to mention the lack of diversity within the actual office space, disturbing.
Company believes working from home is not a “sustainable option” for them, so wfh days will not be an added bonus/negotiation post-Covid, unless you are a director. In that case, directors are given unlimited wfh days.
Company is unwilling to listen to what employees ask for / need and will do what best suits them instead. I understand business is business, but the unwillingness to work with their employees makes it hard to feel that your voice is being heard in any capacity.
Hard to get to if you are commuting from the city.
Single stall bathrooms are often overflowing or not working.
