Pros

There is a sense of professionalism & respect at the job. Cooperation and teamwork is not an issue. Employees like their work.

Cons

Current financial turmoil does have an impact on outlook, pay, and job stability. It may seem to employees that cost-cutting is done at their cost.

Pros

If you like working for less then this is definitely the place to be. I was being paid in the $50k range as a branch manager when I left for a bank that could afford to pay me more than what most assistant managers make.

Cons

The level of pay is atrocious. The training is done via onilne, conference calls, and idiot trainers that are always trying to get out of anwering questions just so they can go home early. The bank forces it's employees to go to employee events but refuses to pay them. The incentive plan is centered around how many overdraft charges the bank can charge a customer in a given three month period before sending them off to collections.

Pros

Stable corporation in an industry experiencing turmoil; good business model. Current senior leadership has steered this ship well (if you'll pardon the metaphor). Decent benefits and employee perks. Flexible schedule for technology employees.

Cons

Poor career development - My manager has no clue about this. Compared to other companies like Best Buy and Target where management is very involved in making career path information available, our management here is woefully inept and/or ill equipped. I have been in several areas of the bank and it is pervasive. Low salaries. Insufficient management training and/or selection. The criteria used for selecting managers appears to be based primarily on how long a person has been in their respective area and not if their personality and skill set qualify them to lead a group of people. Knowledge and experience alone are not enough. Managers should have interpersonal, team building and leadership skills also. In my opinion, the latter are more important than the former. A monkey can be trained - a leader has intrinsic ability. Not everyone is a leader.
