Worst Management Ever!

Pros

The only pros to US Sugar is that they lightly abide by OSHA regulations. If they can hid a discrepancy that will be done.

Cons

Extremely condescending management that have no idea how to manage or even to speak to employees. Managers believe they can run everything from an office and refuse to go into the dangerous areas of the plant because they know there is a good chance of a fatal accident. Management teams refuse to even work together and continue to argue and point fingers instead of working for solutions. The company refuses to provide employees with decent restroom facilities and even are reported as stating the employees don't deserve a nice restroom because they will spend too much time in there. The buildings are deteriorating and management is too worried about getting their bonus than in spending the funds necessary to maintain the proper upkeep of the facility. Management behaves like royalty and treat the employees as if they are peasants. Even the office staff and secretaries behave as if they are superior to all the employees.

Pros

As an I/e you have a chance to learn anything about instrumentation, controls, voltage range from 24 to 4100... Pay is good for the area.

Cons

Dropping I/e pay about $2 a year. Til we bottom out around $31 new hires will never catch up in pay no matter how much they do/learn the plant. Union has no say even if company purposely goes against contract. Grievances appear to sit on back burner til forgotten. Osha been in plant too many times to feel comfortable about working conditions. Not too much around that the wife likes in the area-I've decided to live about an hour from plant. Utility bills in clewiston appear high. Management for I/e department is poor. 2 out of 6 understand what the plant needs to run. The other 4 must be there to ???? I hear they are forcing new management to live local.

Pros

This is a large factory and there are many areas for an engineer to gain experience and grow. Many competent mid-career professionals on staff to work with. Overall factory equipment reliability is good which means work hours stay reasonable.

Cons

Rural area away from the amenities that many families want. Like all companies health insurance cost keep going up,
