Pros

Good people in the ranks. Very dedicated workforce. Their contributions go above and beyond.

Cons

Management's sight on lowering cost footprint at all levels leads to exodus (willing and unwilling) of people with decades of subject matter expertise. Jobs moving to lower cost areas within country and outside of the country. No long term future for anyone in the new york area, where company is based.

Pros

Office will support you getting licenses and certifications. Good place to to learn and get some experience. A lot of the long timers are very nice and helpful in sharing knowledge. Good amount of vacation time for new employees.

Cons

Poor compensation. Limited amount of positions available within the wealth management division. Some of the past managers didn't make it easy for individuals to apply for other jobs and move around within the company. Sometimes it takes forever to get something done because it has to go through so many strings of approval.

Pros

The vacation policy and benefits are some of the best I've seen. People in the sales and product organizations are no nonsense, straight shooters who are also very friendly. The have a respected brand name and the most productive Advisors on the street.

Cons

The home office has become a politically-driven, bureaucratic mess. Managers are required to force-rank employees by titles even though functional roles may be completely different. This causes a lot of infighting as people vie for an ever dwindling piece of the bonus pie. They are also looking to define a culture in an industry where competitors already have clearly established cultures.
