      Pros

      Professors have time for students. They are not very busy. Courses are not very tough.

      Cons

      City is very tiny. University is small. The location is not good in California.

      *lots of resources *lots of opportunities to grow *lots of opportunities to create something of your own *caring, understanding staff, open minded and respectful

      Cons

      *the town itself is small and is in the middle of nowhere. Might be difficult for people who look for a big city experience *since it is a school environment you are expected to act formally and present yourself professionally, no enforced dress code/guidelines but expected to look clean cut

      - grad student/faculty ratio - no social distraction = good research environment - nice health benefits - with standard UC salaries one can live a nice life in Merced

      Cons

      - no social distraction - bad management - inexperienced employees all over the place.
