      Positive work environment. Staff and students are friendly. Many opportunities to help expand the university.

      Too much bureaucratic red tape.

      Pros

      You can get a lot of quality time with professors. The number of students is fairly low and this creates a high professor per student ratio. This is one of the biggest advantage of this university.

      Cons

      The city of Merced is one of the worst in USA. It is really hard to find sophiscticated people in the city. The university environment is the only saved place in the city. Since the university is very new, the rules, the culture are not totally established yet. This can sometimes be frustrating.

      Great way to learn how to become a better instructor

      Cons

      If your supervisor isn't organized and very thorough about what needs to be covered, etc, then trying to put together the lab and grading is a big pain in the butt.
