Pros

UCR is an up and coming University of California. There is a vibrant graduate community and administrative support for graduate students.

Cons

Your experience is almost completely dependent on your immediate advisor. This means that you experience could be horrible or great. If you are considering graduate school, talk to your advisor's previous students and get an idea of what kind of person they are. Graduate student's pay is often late and non-transparent which can cause unneeded confusion.
