Pros

I have enjoyed my time working for the dining services at UCR. I am aware I lucked out into one of the easier dining areas that require less work than the dining halls. The management team has always been welcoming and friendly, making the environment a place to look forward to. Pay periods are every two weeks which helps if there is one or two weeks per month with less hours. The management is very considerate and understanding of changes in schedules due to student status and will do what they can to help accommodate the changes.

Cons

The pay is minimum wage and hard to support yourself on your own with just that. Being part time limits the hours available, leaving many people trying to get more.

Pros

Unionized. All benefits paid. Full transparency on pay.

Cons

Postdoctoral positions are prone to fluctuations in grant funding and whether or not you agree with your boss. If you're international, please make sure your boss isn't an p.o.s. Also, UC police will beat you if you attend a pro-Palestine demonstration.
