Pros

Decent facilities and graduate student resources through Grad Division and Graduate Student Association. Your experience, as with any graduate program, will be dependent upon your major advisor and whether his/her advising style suites you.

Cons

I found there to be a lack of courses within my department. I received little training for the techniques I was to use in my research. A lack of TAships is becoming a big problem and leaves some students struggling for funding.

Pros

Teaching assistant-ship pays for tuition and most fees, if you have 25% appointment or above (10 hrs per week). If you are over 25% the benefits are very good. If less, then it's an average part-time job for a grad student (time that might be better utilized finishing your degree quicker).

Cons

Facilities are not well-maintained. Learning labs (computer lab, mechatronics lab, machine shop) are a mess.
