Pros

Meeting truly amazing people, dedicated to their field of research. Access to top-notch facilities. Beautiful setting doesn't hurt it either.

Cons

Graduate student researchers are payed relatively low wages. Working hours are long and undefined. Professors have too much power over students.

As a student worker, treated respectfully and accordingly. Fantastic group of staff members and supervisors at Human Resources. Flexible schedule and academic work priority. Opportunity for professional learning in university administration. At HR, always at the brink of UC activities, union events, scholastic organization days, etc. Beautiful weather; lunch a great time for a stroll on the coast beach 10 mins away Admiration of visitors and prospective students Applicable administration skills to potential job positions elsewhere With bus sticker, can travel anywhere in Santa Barbara Youthful envrionment and academic prestige

Cons

Cut-back on hours dur to budget cuts Parking can be a hassle and contesting a citation is a nightmare May feel slightly isolated from the rest of the campus, esp. when working 8-4 job

Pros

The benefits are the best in the county and the pay is great for my position.

Cons

A downside to working at UCSB is I feel that I cannot go anywhere else and have not acquired any skills that would allow me to move up in other offices or companies.
