Pros
Great location, good people to work with. The benefits are impossible to beat and overall they take good care of the employees.
Cons
Incredibly political environment, don't expect to be able to actually get another job at the university unless you have a political connection to make it happen. Incredibly wasteful environment, spending $50,000 on electric pick-up trucks that were obsolete after only two or three years. Thanks to former governor gray davis they automatically withdraw $30/mo from your paycheck for union dues, regardless of if you actually join or not. The Union is completely worthless. Because of the union it is impossible for them to recognize individual achievement - either everyone gets a raise or no one gets a raise.
