Great family like atmosphere. Great opportunity to maintain a professional position in public eye. Student employees helping other students. Patrol dorms and campus and can feel proud of the job.

Cons

Hours aren't always bad but sometimes as a new employee you might get stuck with weekend graves. Rain or shine you are work inside and outside. Although some people love you, others will hate you and call you vulgar names for breaking up their parties and making them pour out their beer, or because we impounded their bike.

I found UC Santa Barbara to be a gorgeous location and overall an extremely relaxed environment. Nothing like going to work by the ocean.

Cons

It's a university with a lot of inbreeding. Unless you know someone, you are not going to advance. Also found the staff that worked at the various facilities and labs to be incompetent and lazy.
