Pros

It has a great reputation as a quality healthcare system. The nursing staff genuinely cares and are for the most part excited to be their doing what they do. When I started here they strived to get the highest quality staff and therefore provide high quality benefits and culture. They are deservedly a magnet status hospital. It the time I left they were above average wages for the area.

Cons

It feels as though they are loosing much of what is making it such a great place. More and more staff are part time making lateral movement harder. Wages and benefits are decreasing. The care that was being taken to make it a world-class health care system isn't being taken as much and the culture is starting to lack because if it. With the coming of "Obama-care" they are fearing the worst and it is conveyed in how they are approaching the issue with staff.

Pros

Friendly employees. Pay was pretty good. Merging with the University should be a really good thing in the future.

Cons

Ex Military Management talk at you as if you are in the military. Literally getting in your face and talking to you like Sargent Carter on the Gomer Pile Show. It seemed like it was just for fun, or so it seemed and then writing you up about it and in some cases, getting people fired. Do they get a bonus for this? I did not sign up for the military. Threats of insubordination that don't even fit the definition. People just disappear and are never seen again, even though it is said that there is a protocol and there are meetings and warning, write ups, etc... TERMINATED. No warnings or write ups. I moved across the country to be terminated for reasons (one of them completely made up and no matter how I tried, they would not look at the proof against it, or take it off my record), that would normally get a write up or warning. They put a negative mark on my career that will make getting a job nearly impossible. I thought that the University would not have handled my situation this way, but when I asked for help, they did not step in. When I called for my COBRA papers, they said my "Whole Group" had a computer glitch and would be late. 'Whole group'? How many people are "LET GO" for a 'whole group' of cobra papers to go out, what, weekly? I was approved for Unemployment, so I obviously didn't do anything serious or illegal. WHAT THE? They use the "At Will" State Law as an excuse to be horrible to people that just want to go to work and do their jobs. We had this law where I am from, but never saw this interpretation of the law. Employees are aware of this law and are in constant fear of being fired. Very, very sad. BULLIES! What a nightmare of an experience!
