Pros

Excellent benefit package, including pension plan; very talented clinical staff and knowledgeable operations staff. World-class performance in particular specialties.

Cons

Aggressive project time frames, particularly in the Epic project. Poor work-life balance, long hours, unpaid overtime (for salaried workers), and heavy emphasis on and political power in the revenue cycle organization. They take care of patients' health and in collecting the bill as fast as possible--paying attention to employees' well-being is, sadly, not really a priority. Lack of understanding in UCH of the community provider needs emergent from the merger with Poudre Valley and Memorial Health Systems. Insular mindset on the part of University of Colorado Hospital leadership as pertains to the merger. Insufficient representation of Poudre Valley and Memorial Management in the new University of Colorado Health organization (a product of the merger of UCH and the others above). Mass uncertainty about the future among the rank-in-file. High turnover in the IT organization as a result of all of the above.

Pros

Still thinking about that one

Cons

Used to be a great place to work. Not so much anymore especially since the merger with university hospital. More like a take over. Company is looking to downsize and lay off people so they have more money. Nurse to patient ratio will change considerably and not for the better. They changed benefits and were not honest about some of the changes to employees. With Medicare benefits being cut its understandable UCH has to do more with less. But what is so disappointing is what made PVHS great years ago is no longer important. It's all about the bottom dollar. Layoffs are coming up and down the front range. But they only ones being told this are the managers.. Some are kind enough to tell their staff if you see something else go for it. No ones safe. Moral is at its lowest. Rulon Stacey is no where to be found. He used to have a big presence in the loveland ft. Collins area but not anymore. He's achieved his dream and has forgotten what made him who he is today. As for Bruce Schroffel, he sends emails about how things will get personal and we have to do more with less then tells us to have a great weekend. Read between the lines. I used to love this organization as did do many others but now...it's just a job and its survival of the fittest. This merger was the worst thing for PVH and MCR.
