Pros

Great reputation, Great Industry contacts, Great faculty, Good job security, competent colleagues,Good publication output, good health benefits, good work-life balance

Cons

Low funding - dependent on Professors, high bureacracy, low lab space for civil engineering, high non resident tuition. Also, a post doctoral position requires a one year contract with declaration of funds, which makes it difficult for a fresh PhD from UCLA to stay back to finish any work.
