Pros

The research going at UCLA is on the cutting edge of new developments and ideas. As an institution they do make healthy programs (like stress management, exercise groups, etc.) available to employees and advocate work/life balance but your experience will depend much more on the group (such as lab, research group or department) you work with.

Cons

Transportation and parking. Most of the research work is within the academic series or grant funded. Directors of centers have a lot of leeway to set the tone for their group and this can as asset or a problem.

Pros

UCLA delivers on its mission of providing cutting edge research, academics, and public service. It was exciting to be a part of that mission. Wonderful professional development opportunities and resources for all employees can be found throughout campus. Excellent benefits!

Cons

If you don't already live on the westside, the commute can be a nightmare, and particularly challenging if the department in which you work does not have flexible hours or an understanding boss. Parking can also be a challenge if you arrive later in the day.
