Pros

The only good thing about working for the Company was that I learned a tremendous amount; however, I believe I would have gained the same experience working for any other middle market firm in the area.

Cons

The management at UHY does not treat its employees very fairly. Also, the Human Resources department is not on the side of the employees but instead on the side of management. Employees felt they could come to the HR department if there were issues; however, instead they were either terminated or their "confidential" discussions were discussed with other employees such as administrative staff. The Company touts that they are a national firm; however, each firm does things very differently. The management of the firm makes you feel like you are replaceable and very rarely gives compliments. They have a tendency to keep employees around for very long periods of time who haven't completed the CPA exam (i.e. employees who have been there for 8 to 9 years without passing the exam).

…hmmm. Lots of people work direct with clients and that offers easy outs once your work life balance has been entirely crushed.

Cons

Partners feel it’s okay to sexually harass those beneath them because they don’t see any consequences. It has a very boys club feel.

Pros

Close to home, and you get the big picture. You can do a complete audit, and get exposure to a lot of areas.

Cons

No work is assigned to you, so you have to sit around looking for work. Then you get torn into for not having more work. You will do tax if you work in audit. It's the most toxic and unprofessional work atmosphere. If you have 0 people skills this is perfect, just sit quietly at your desk and don't talk. You get 0 training / no one teaches you anything, so the second you screw something up you never hear the end of it. HR works for the partners and drinks the Kool-Aid. They are a worthless department. The employees are on a power trip, and just want to review work / write up 10,000 questions. If you want to see how excessive greed can destroy a person, work here.
