Pros

Excellent opportunities for advancement. They value their workforce and understand that it is their greatest asset, and they make a tremendous effort to acquire and retain good people.

Cons

They were bought out several years ago by a private equity firm and the future is still a little uncertain.

Company that has changed dramatically over the years

Pros

Aron Ain is charismatic and caring, and the product is solely needed in the marketplace. There have been many opportunities over the years to get to the next level, and the company and development organization has succeeded in many cases. They pay very very well (or have done so in the past), so keep you there via golden handcuffs. I think that the company will continue to do well for some time, if you can stomach the current management and the culture. New employees who've known worse love this.

Cons

Bain Capital came in over two successive years and gave upper management direction that was accepted without sufficient questioning. The company had a great team culture where employees helped each other succeed for many years. After 'operational' improvements instigated by Bain findings, where a good profit was not enough - they had to get a great profit - layoffs and outsourcing began in earnest. Highly political upper management replacements were made across the organization, especially in Dev and Products, adding individuals who 'managed up' the organizational chain w/out the balance of looking out for the employees under them. Good people who cared started leaving in droves, and it was merely seen as natural evolution, and getting rid of old baggage. Communications changed and the culture evolved to 'individuals out for themselves' - no longer a team effort. And I can't believe that Kronos is still being voted one of the top companies to work for. What has changed in the world that this type of culture is touted as one of the best?

The rubber hits the road jobs are overlooked and upward mobility is null.
