A tricky world of possibility

Pros

There are so many possibilities to accomplish substantial things and work with amazing fantastic people. There is lots going on with innovation and serious thinking about how to improve aid architecture.

Cons

At the same time, it is a gigantic bureaucracy, so get ready for office politics, power games, etc.--not to mention all manner of cross-cultural barriers to grapple with. Of course this stuff can be invigorating, but also stifling.

Pros

Being able to work for the improvement of children's lives is such a fulfilling job. And the environment is always of teamwork and very pleasant.

Cons

Too administrative and very little chances of professional growth if you don't know the right person.

Pros

It gives you exposure to diverse international cultures, issues and creative ways for solving issues. Time-off and flexible working arrangement policies exist.

Cons

As a not-for-profit organization, there are no monetary bonuses. There is so much to do, one tends to work through lunch and long hours.
