Pros

UPS used to be a great place to work with great benefits.

Cons

As of 2024, there has been a shift towards "quiet firings" within the organization. The prevailing sentiment is that only full-time supervisors or individuals holding higher positions are deemed as valuable employees. Part-time supervisors, specialists, and administrative staff have been informed that advancement is the primary route to increased compensation. The organizational culture at UPS continues to reflect traditional paradigms, where promotions are often influenced by personal connections rather than merit-based evaluations. District Managers wield significant influence over the allocation of top-tier evaluation ratings within their respective employee groups. In cases where employees receive higher ratings from their direct supervisors, efforts are made to adjust scores to align with those of neighboring districts. Unfortunately, instances of supervisors resorting to retaliatory actions akin to those observed in grade school settings have been reported, particularly when employees express dissatisfaction with their employment conditions.

Horrible Culture

Pros

The pay is one good thing, especially around holidays.

Cons

The culture is super toxic, they sign a contract with you for a set schedule and once you start work it changes completely, total disregard for your personal time. Also, the truck drivers are so rude and abusive to loaders. They were allowed to call us names, tell us to hurry up, kick us off of “their trucks”. I reported numerous times and answer was “ that is just the culture here”. They expected me to over work and accept others mistreatment, so illegal.

More stress than any other company

Pros

22 years ago, I would have said plenty of pros, now, none. No amount of money is worth sacrificing time with friends and family for a company that just takes your soul and crushes it.

Cons

They will say you are a partner in the company and that coworkers are your family, this is because you’re expected to dedicate your life to UPS. Weekends, UPS, nights, UPS. Leadership said they are working on providing a better work life balance, only works if your boss ‘allows’ it. I took a job earning less money, with ZERO stress and it is 100% worth it. If you are NOT a white male, don’t apply to work at UPS. The sexual discrimination at UPS is alive and thriving in 2024. It really is unacceptable how UPS employees are treated and no one does anything about it.
