Pros

It is an alright job if you are looking for seasonal work. It is also a great start if you are looking to work full time with UPS. Many drivers started out as a driver helper. Some drivers are fun to work with. In some cases the driver will pick you up from your house every day and you will end up delivering in your neighborhood.

Cons

Since the economy is in the tank and there are plenty of people looking for work, they lowered the pay for the position from around $11 to just above minimum wage. They make you pay union dues, but what is the point of joining the union when you are only working there for 1-6 weeks. Also, some centers would pay more for their driver helpers than others, even though the centers were 20 miles apart.

Pros

Good Benefits, People are very nice, job security. While I was there- UPS had never had a lay off of their permanent employees.

Cons

They brainwash you into being BROWN... its very weird and cult-ish at Corporate. It reminds you of the book 1984. People have been there so long that they have no idea how things work in the real world. People think they will never be fired or laid off- they have the "government job" mentality.

Pros

The office is a great environment to work, great employees that see each other as a family. Work hours and employee management is fair. Advancement around this time is not a very bright area until hiring/promotion freeze is gone.

Cons

Sometimes paychecks and finance calculation is a hassle. The way they calculate it is down to the days and hours you work to calculate your paid days off. If you are a new employee or in a new position, sometimes these calculations work against your favor. I've been through it many times through many positions. Systems are old, computers need to be updated. Servers are old.
