Pros

The aforementioned advancement opportunities, a good benefits package, and a job that is a workout in itself make this a good choice.

Cons

As a package handler, you are likely to work strange hours which are okay for someone unattached, but not so great for someone with a family. The seniority system, as far as I can tell, can at times seem to not reward hard work as well as I'd like.

Pros

A secure job with a large successful company. Good opportunities to advance if you are willing to put in the work but may take years. Competitive pay and benefits package (although not what it was pre-recession). Teamwork atmosphere is enjoyable.

Cons

The hours can be erratic including working nights or really any hours you can think of due to the 24 hour operation. I have had regular assignments working both 6 to 4's and the bad 9 to 5. Long hours at Christmas time. Many times overly intense management from above with very aggressive performance goals. Often dirty and tiring depending on your position.
