      Pros

      Pay your medical bills and somewhat cover your food expenses.

      Cons

      Everything else...was just told by tax rep that I am still earning beneath the poverty level after making it more than halfway up the ladder in less than 6 years.

      One of the best reasons to work for the US Army is since of accomplishment both as an individual and as a member of a team.

      Pros

      A lot of time off to compensate for high optempo periods of 60-70 hour weeks. Senior officers able to manage their own time and responsibilities without excessive micromanagement. Many Soldiers take pride in their service which makes for high Espirit Decorps among the ranks.

      Cons

      High optempo can be unbearable at times with little to no regard for families or personal time. Junior officers and enlisted personnel micromanaged frequently and given average acknowledgement for superior performance. Promotions given because of time in grade and not on merit.
