Pros

Pay / benefits / combat pay

Cons

Dismal IT / HR depth, nepotism in hiring process. If you have aa family connection with someone at the workplace, you are golden.

Pros

Job security, work is interesting

Cons

Management doesn't even pretend to care. They devise a system that screws new employees as much as possible and then act surprised when no one wants to stay. Bring everyone on as a 10, have them do more work than some 15s, then instead of promoting them make them go before a board to gain *eligibility* to apply for a higher grade position with expectation they have to interview against 20 other people and then move in order to *actualize* the promotion. What a joke.

Woefully Lacking

Pros

Job security is pretty good with the federal government, at least currently.

Cons

The senior leadership at DIA is not qualified. Promotion to senior ranks is based on who you know rather than what you know, how well you have performed, and what your potential is. Good old boy and girl networks are pervasive, the worst of which are retired military colonels. The vast majority of them do not know how to manage civilians, and treat the civilian workforce as second rate. DIA performs like a job corps for the retired military. The agency consistently ranks at the bottom of the Intelligence Community for morale based on the annual federal government employee survey. Senior leadership is very good at talking the talk but not walking the talk.
