Pros

Pros for the Excellent Benefits, more than other agencies. FERS is 1.7 overseas and overseas gets DC locality pay along with LQA and per Diem, and you get 15 days home leave per year opposed to 5 days for the others (AF and Army for example). Opportunities to go overseas for short tours available. Opportunities for further your education BS and MS programs.

Cons

Can only speak about the IT side, very top heavy with conflicting and changing leadership. Many jobs limited in focus, you work your one piece and that is all, too may people worried about stepping on others toes. Too many projects started then dumped. Too many Contractors, being used for long term continuity.

Pros

Volunteer for the "bad" assignments and you'll get to do a lot of great stuff.

Cons

It's the Department of Defense: God help you if you want to get anything changed
