Pros

- Work/Life Balance - Not much

Cons

- Dead-end career for engineers unless you're close to retirement. - Recent Graduate or Mid-Level Engineers, run away you won't do anything related and won't lead to any transferable skills outside

Pros

Benefits and job security are top-notch.

Cons

Workforce is riddled with "can't be fireds" with a few obviously racist, sexist, etc. and regularly committing inappropriate behaviors such as sexual harassment which is promptly ignored by leadership. It therefore becomes a very draining work environment.

Rewarding work experiences, good pay

Pros

Salary is even across every GG- level and is based on time in position. Promotions are centralized, minimizing (but not eliminating) favoritism practices. DIA offers additional bonus programs, including foreign language pay. Analysis career field has the most upward mobility; the higher up you go, the fewer positions are available.

Cons

HR at HQ is one of the worst across the federal agencies that I have seen, including federal service agencies like Army. If you are in a position in the US, you can stay there was long as you want, which often impacts promotion opportunities. It you are not in the analysis career field, there are fewer opportunities to promote.
