Hours, pay, benefits, and work life balance seem to be better than the private sector.

Cons

Work culture is horrible. Nepotism is rampant. The wrong people are promoted and given praise. Management and supervision are incompetent. Training is abysmal. Processes and procedures are outdated and redundant. The supervision looks for ways that you are failing instead of helping people to succeed. The best way to get promoted is to be a butt kisser and stab other people in the back. Management hold grudges and interfere with professional development. Conflict management is laughable.

DLA is one of the worst government government agencies you can work for. There is favorite, racism, and nepotism within the organization which factors into their hiring practices. Both the Bremerton location where I was and the Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor location suffer for these issues. The work at DLA Bangor is highly manual. There is inadequate leadership and waste at both locations. No upwards mobility. You're pretty much a cog in the wheel of an organization that grinds you down to the point where you consider leaving government work all together. Save your self the frustration do not work for DLA!
