Pros

If you are lazy and want to work the system then, the Federal Government is the perfect place to work.

Cons

If you a top performer; expect to do 80% of the work for others that won't. You'll be doing basically about 2-3 jobs at the same time and the Government will continue to expect more without compensation.

Pros

Working in conservation is so incredibly rewarding in and of itself. In particular, I love that I am able to leverage my strengths in administration and attention to detail in a way that contributes meaningfully to conservation. My program has supportive first-tier leadership that has consistently rewarded good, competent performance.

Cons

The current administration is not a friend to my program. For years they've been developing roadblocks and hurdles and endless exercises in paperwork. Funding that has been appropriated by Congress for very specific purposes is being held up with literally no actual written justification, so it's gotten very disheartening.
