Sinking corp. ship in need of rescue

Pros

I took this job under false pretenses, it wasn't really what I thought I was hired for, I can only speak on behalf of the departments and policies I engaged with... They are trying

Cons

It was the worst experince of my life. Maybe a different manager would have helped, but that was out of the question. Intimidation is common and part of the day to day. Corporate politics nightmare, so much retaliation, and unequal treatment- policies are not universally enforced. Many operate on their own agenda, even if its not aligned with the corporate agenda.--- they create their own agenda and silo's. It is a toxic a culture. So many moving parts, but rarerly moving together.

Pros

Fair salary and benefits Smart people (who don't get the chance to succeed)

Cons

1. Be prepared to wear plenty of hats. 2. Work life balance is non existent. 3. Quote from my boss "I have put my job ahead of my family my entire career and it worked well for me". 4. People from all functional areas are jumping off this sinking ship weekly due to the acquisition of US Foods by poor performing industry leader Sysco. (NOTICE I WROTE ACQUISITION AND NOT MERGER). 5. Propaganda is spread daily; mainly, "It's business as usual 'till the acquisition closes". Senior management needs to know that the troops don't believe it when you say it. They know that's all about the executives chasing that final Us Foods bonus. 6. Metrics will always be put ahead of people in this organization. They do not care about employees at all. When they say they do, it's just words. 7. EBITDA is all that matters to management. They don't care about people, workers, efforts, or anything else; just the bottom line!! 8. Vacation day's????? ya right, you have them but don't get to use them. And don't forget about those company holidays...you get to work those days as well (without compensation or comp days). 9. Most persons in charge advanced from the floor. This inbreeding had stalled the company and you literally hear phrases such as "this is the way we have always done it" on a weekly basis. That mentality is killing the business.

Buckle up, it’s a bumpy ride on their journey to becoming undisputed worst

Pros

I love the random 11 AM calls put on our calendar the morning of, to notify us of even more layoffs. This happens multiple times per year, so if job insecurity is what you’re after, I highly recommend this place!

Cons

Offshoring jobs, nobody is safe. Only people that matter are the shareholders. Company is being speed-ran into the ground. CEO is an knucklehead. Unless you love the thrill of not knowing your job will be safe tomorrow then stay away. Also, DO NOT TRUST HR. They are not your friend. If you try to do the right thing and report a bully, they will side with the bully. Food for thought!
