Decent starting pay for someone that doesn't have any real financial obligations.

Cons

You never know if you'll work 56 hours a week or 20. This is a good job for someone with no real financial obligations.

It used to be great. Took the job to travel and gain experience after graduating college

Cons

Starting pay is based on your last position and as a college student or intern, you are screwed. People constantly move to lower levels then move back to higher levels just to get pay increase. No locality pay or commuting benefits or parking for employees unless you are handicapped or executive. Location is in the heart of DC so traffic is horrible. Retention is bad because pay is better at any other agency. They promote who they want and the most qualified is likely to not get the position due to favoritism of another employee. This happens often at HQ.

Pros

Good salary and benefits if you like outside it’s great great exercise. Can eventually have a great route with seniority

Cons

Makes impossible time demands, in the beginning you have to always be available. Have to stay until all work is done so can be long hours. When weather is really bad and no one else is working you still are out in it.
