Pros

Awesome pay, great coworkers.

Cons

Crazy morning hrs with no one to call in case of emergencies. Unappreciative coworkers and supervisors. They expect you to be peachy at 7am when you've been there since 3:45am. You lose your soul, life, and your family working for usps.

Pros

Limited supervision when you're out on a route. Great exercise and your mind is always moving and being challenged. Pay is above average for the current state of our economy.

Cons

"Supervisors" call you on your cell phone repeatedly when you're almost done with your route. The scan points throughout the route let them know down to the exact minute when you will be finished. They will tell you to go help a "regular" employee so they don't have to pay him/her overtime for the day. You're used as a workhorse because you're considered an "assistant" until you make regular, which may take you 1 year or 10 years depending on the size of the post office you're at. Make sure you keep track of your OJT hours when the time comes. OJT is On The Job Training, you will receive 3 days of it after your classroom orientation. You don't have a time card yet so you are forced to submit your hours on paper and have to rely on supervisors to do that. I was missing 18 hours of pay up until the day I quit. Anytime I asked a supervisor how I can receive that pay, I was told, "I don't handle payroll" or, "I'll send an email to someone". The supervisors don't care about your growth as an employee, they want to just meet their numbers on a daily basis. They're compensated well to deal with the stress level of that position. My advice would be to find a different job than this one. You're treated like a number and anytime you try and "overachieve" everyone in the office will basically tell you to stop because they're comfy with the union standards. You're on call every morning for work that day. I worked at the Harrisburg location so 4 post offices fell under that district. I would get called as late as 9 AM to report at 10 AM for work. Good luck if you go through with the position, I was there for 90 days and decided to no longer give them my time and effort.
