Pros

Starting pay is 16.62 per hour

Cons

When I first applied, the interviewer went into a song and dance about how this would be a 360-day assignment with the post office. I was also told I would be sorting mail and would be working nights and receiving a shift differential. I had an interview at another location where I was told the same set of lies. When I arrived for the first day of orientation within the first few hours the instructor told us that we are here only for the holidays. He asked us if we knew this and the room was quiet. These PSE positions are holiday positions. They will trick you at the interview and make you think that you will be working for 360 days. In my case they even went as far as telling me after the 360 days I would be able to work for another 360 days. They are using these PSE employees just to fulfill their needs for the influx of holiday mail. I talked to other people that worked these positions in the past and told me they were laid off after the holiday. The last day of orientation, I was told I would be working with packages instead of the mail position that was talked about in the interview. When I reported to the peak annex location for my first day of work, the entire place was in disarray. We were told there was no water in the building and directed that the restrooms are the port a johns outside. There were no refrigerators to store a cold lunch. The work was backbreaking and very tedious. The people are worked hard to the core. They didn't even let me take one of my breaks because of the heavy workload. These practices are most likely illegal. There should be a lawsuit filed against the post office for the way they treat their PSE employees.

Pros

-having off on holidays -no supervision during most of the day

Cons

-having off on holidays. The day after is always crazy and heavy so you can't even enjoy the holiday. -CCAs always get the work no one wants to do especially if you aren't management's favorite -CCAs never get days off and sometimes have to work Sunday's -no benefits -becoming a regular is impossible -managers are rude -all they do is rush you (creating a heightened risk for injury) and if you do finish in a good time they give you more work

Pros

Working alone Plenty of Hours Take lunch & breaks Whenever Good vibes when interacting with people (Ppl are usually happy to see us) lol Good Pay. Got my first raise after 4 months. And I’m getting another raise once i complete a full year. You can be yourself at work. But always be respectful Growth opportunities Benefits Guaranteed Job My first bud at the post office has been with the post office for 4 years as a carriers and now he’s my Supervisor. All it takes is good work ethic & attendance in order to move up.

Cons

Weather Conditions. Although it’s possible to work in.. it also can be exhausting. The trucks are always hotter than the temp outside. The snow isn’t bad to work in you really just have to bundle up! Don’t be afraid of the winter! When you are walking you’re already generating heat! Ppl are usually too warm when doing walking routes bc they over dressed. But your feet and hands might be cold but again prepare. Wear a good pair of gloves double up on socks. Yano. There is no schedule.. Expect to work 6 days a week. The Post office is in high demand of Letter Carriers. We literally make the post office. We move the mail. Everyday all day. But based off your performance you may not get the hours you want. They want you to be able to complete a whole route as soon as possible! Just so they can be able to get as much work possible out of you. It took me 2 months until i was able to complete a whole route. They are patient with you but deff want to see you progressing everyday. Depending on how you perform pretty much sums up how much hours you’re going to work. Why? Bc technically starting out as a CCA you are considered PART TIME. Meaning they don’t have to give you hours and they won’t if your not performing. I see reviews on this app and the only reason your not getting hours is either bc your not performing well or you’re at a over staffed station which is rare bc they usually fill a CCA position if it’s needed. I’m Part time but Getting Overtime is that makes sense (: I live the post office it fits my work ethic. It may not be for your. I’d hate to leave a review and you’re still questioning if u should apply or not so this is my take on it... If you are willing to work 6 days a week in all weather conditions then yes go for it! The check is definitely worth it!!! If you can’t do those two than you will not make it ... don’t even waste you’re time. I know working 6 days a week seems crazy but i don’t dread going to work.. like i did at my old job Idk. I guess i found a job i don’t mind doing everyday. It’s confusing and a lot to learn especially when you’re out on your own but they deff are patient with you and if u need any help just ask! I’m still learning different things weekly.
