Pros

The Postal Service provides decent starting wages with incremental increases over time. The benefits of health and life insurance and Thrift Savings Plan (401K) have been excellent.

Cons

Unfortunately, the future of the Postal Service looks bleak. It's decline in profitability and increased financial burden to prepay future retirement benefits is causing innumerable facility shutdowns and consolidation of operations. Many jobs are being lost.

Pros

The postal service has an excellent pay and benefits package for the amount of education and training you need for the job.

Cons

Under constant time pressure. Management often directs employees to do the impossible in the amount of time allowed. Low morale of employees. Little to no positive job recognition or positive feedback. Most jobs are very repetitive and monotonous. Poor working conditions. No positive incentives to improve job performance. Workforce is being reduced, increasing the already high workload on individual employees. Not a fun place to work.
