Pros

The job was challenging some nice regulars very busy

Cons

Christmas help only Was told would be called back in 3 to 4 months too many regulars bringing down USPS retire those with over 25+ years they don't care about USPS just a guaranteed paycheck to them because of the union!!!! There were people at the Miami ISC who could barley walk let alone work but seniority is all that matters!

Pros

Pay and benefits package is competitive, co-workers are pleasant (for the most part), never had a problem with payroll in over 9 years. Employee online liteblue is quick and convenient to make changes or check your paycheck.

Cons

Too many to list. Dirty post offices, management is completely incapable of running an efficient operation. They promote anyone with a pulse, regardless of qualifications or education. Working conditions are horrible due to the 30 year old mail trucks. I'm stuck breathing in fumes and driving an unsafe vehicle on a daily basis. They use re-tread tires when tires need replacing that aren't safe. If you are a carrier, you have to be quick or you'll have problems with your managers on a daily basis. Taking any sick time is like committing a bad sin. Vacation is difficult to schedule if you are low seniority. Micromanaging is now totally insane. GPS on scanners and now scanning individual mail pieces. What's next, scan every mailbox?

Pros

The pay was great!!! In great physical condition once Christmas season was over.

Cons

First off, job description is in no way what happens once you are on the work floor. Br prepared to work hard. Extremely physically demanding job. Nothing can quite prepare you for it. Most of the supervisors rude and ignorant. There are a few supervisors that are great - unfortunately you will not often get a chance to work for them because everyone jumps at the chance to work with them. A good bit of the staff seem to have severe personality issues. Most are disgruntled because thy are forced to work for two months with barely trained seasonal workers who have absolutely no idea what is going on. You learn when you have made a mistake after you make it - usually because a supervisor will come over to yell at you about the mistake in front of co-workers, or you will be told by another staff member how the person you were working with talked about how badly you were doing to a captive audience. Have a 'thick skin' and a hard back if you work here.
