I enjoy the time on my own delivering mail and visiting with the customers.

Cons

Takes a long time to get on as a regular; I've been with the Postal Service 3 years now. You have seek a second or third job or you cannot make it. I only scheduled to on Saturdays but has pushed to get more work so I fill in on Mondays. I only bring in $700 for two weeks. I almost have to go on Welfare to just survive but cannot do that - I sell things I don't need to get by while continuing to seek other work. There are times I almost have nothing to eat.

Pays a little more than the average job without any kind of University degree

Cons

Unstable work day, time, paycheck. You have no life since you are part time and is always on call when you are not working. They call you early as 7am in the morning until 7pm to come into work. There is no set time when they don't call you and you must be ready to come in to work otherwise it reflects bad on you. Been here for like 5 months already and still haven't gotten any kind of set schedule. Also you can work 2 hrs in the morning and be sent home for a few hours and then they have you make a second trip back to work.

Good working environment. People are friendly and generally ready to pitch in to help. They will also help you if you are a newbie.

Cons

Takes awhile to move up - I believe. Usually an encouraging atmosphere but it is not always easy to advance within the organization.
