As rural carrier working for United States Postal service for several years. You get paid more for working less hrs.

Cons

As a new employee for Postal Service still struggling btw casing and delivery of malls and parcels, you get paid 8 hrs for working 12 hrs.

Pros

The money is great! Federal holidays off and great benefits after 90 days, retire with 3 different retirement accounts. It is an honorable job to have. Respected by the general public.

Cons

I cried everyday for the first year, it was the hardest job I ever had in my life! But it paid off after I earned my own route and became a Regular RC. Very poor management. Different Supervisors every week that are just a holes, really! Only a few nice ones. Weather! (outside delivering mail.....no matter what the weather is like) Too hot in summer, way too cold in the winter. Snakes, dogs, bees, etc. Having to use and maintain a safe and reliable vehicle...EVERYDAY. Only gets to work like 1 day a week one week and 60 hours the next, then no work for a week, etc. Not able to have another job on the side because of crazy hours. Learning all the routes in every post office you are sent to or work at! Weird people! Everyone that works at the USPS are frickin weird. But, Hey....someones gotta be the weird one, right??
