Pros

Honestly....I can't think of any after 3 years. I made a couple of friends along the way, and I built great advertiser relationships that I will truly miss.

Cons

Everything. They will lay you off without notice, regardless of how many changes you have withstood and been loyal for, despite achieving your goals, and without ceremony. Last manager didn't even bother a phone call on several employees last day of work to say goodbye or thank you - let alone follow through with the recommendation letter that was offered. HR has been a nightmare to work with since final day, not returning phone calls or emails with questions. Regarding time while still at the company - there are too few people in critical account roles for sales executives to be fully supported. Support roles have too large of a case load and many are unhappy with their roles also. Digital products are NOT any better than competitors. Leadership will convince you of that, only to arm you for "battle"for you to find out that you look ridiculous claiming that Gannett has the best of the best products. Digital products may be just as good as other vendors, however when they're offered by a company that is so unstable and treats employees so badly... it becomes a narrative that is hard to overcome. Accounting is another disaster, advertisers consistently receiving incorrect invoices month after month, corrections can't be made because the system isn't set up to properly route approvals, orders being double entered by order entry, or missed entirely. Consistently apologizing to advertisers for missing ads, incorrect creative/art work, bad reporting, incorrect invoices. It's a disaster. The organization as a whole is unstable - leadership is always rolling over - it has become clear that anyone in leadership who speaks out against bad decisions being made or has a difference of opinion will eventually be pushed out. Do not be fooled by the reviews left by HR saying that this is a great company if you can "adapt to changes quickly" - ask yourself....1. How do leadership changes, consistent lay offs, role changes, and demotions affect HR roles? They DON'T other than additional paperwork...anyone in an HR role would be the wrong person to suggest that they love working for a company due to exciting changes. and 2. Why are there corporate HR employees leaving vague reviews for their company? Because so few other active employees are and positive reviews are desperately needed. Also, do not be fooled into thinking that anyone in leadership at this organization cares for its employees. Those leaders were let go a long time ago. The only thing you are is a number, and even when you are producing and exceeding your goals...you are not safe from changes that do not affect your role. I was more than loyal to this organization despite better suggestions to jump ship when they first began knocking around my role...and in the end I was told "it's just a reallocation of headcount". As if that should make it all okay. Thank you Gannett for laying me off. Thus far it has been the best thing that's happened to me and I am heading towards a role in my dream job after taking 1-2 months off work, I have paid off my car with the separation package I received, but most importantly I am not spending my days wrecked with anxiety about client issues, embarrassing news stories, or constantly asking for help that isn't received. Any current employee should only hope for the same outcome and opportunity to move on.

Pros

They have a solid brand name, but nobody knows what to call themselves. Gannett, USA Today, Reach Local, AZ Central, or Republic Media.

Cons

Management is horrible. They fire a whole division and then realize they cannot service the clients and wind up trying to hire them back. If it weren't so sad, it'd be funny. You can experience first hand why Gannett is losing across all brands.

Pros

I say this in total honesty - this is the job I've been looking for. Management is caring and understanding. They help you every step of the way when you need it. The training programs they have get you to where you want to be in your career. Gannett is a very open environment that's laid back and comfortable. I'd recommend working here if you have the chance.

Cons

I only have two real picks, and they're not huge at all. The bathrooms are way too small for how many people work here. Also, the water machines are awful. Other than that, no complaints.
