Pros

Great benefits, the company is attempting to diversify, the alternative media segments are doing very well.

Cons

Newspapers & TV Stations are struggling. Lots of consolidating of jobs - which means, lots of people losing jobs. Very sad and depressing place to work these days. Stock price has fallen $60 since I started 8 years ago.

Pros

The company is always looking for ways to expand and grow as a company. They do not want to be stagnate in the media world. They try to think outside the box and look for innovative ways to incorporate new media into the standard everyday. They have great compensation and good hours. They also want their employees to take a real interest in what they do everyday.

Cons

Right now there stock sucks, the company is in a tail spin towards the ground. They are currently laying people off right and left and they believe that everyone is qualified to do just about every job. You cant be good at everything, you can be average at a whole bunch of things though, which is where its going. I feel like they are sacrificing quality.

Pros

Numerous opportunities all over the country. Still has some stations and newspapers that are award winning.

Cons

Cost cutting to the Nth degree. Consolidation of resources not very efficient. If you don't buy into the Gannett corporate policies, you're asked to leave. It's become more important to label and title everything instead of actually concentrating on the product. We are no longer "reporters" and "photographers" but instead we're merely "multi-media journalists" which means we've homogenized the industry, so everyone can do everything, but no one can do it well.
