Pros
Steady hours and pay, and three weeks vacation.
Cons
They are very cheap, and the condition of the facilities and equipment is deteriorating rapidly. The low pay scale has driven all the smart and talented mangement at the operational level to greener pastures, leaving the dregs to run the show. These new "managers" (I use the term loosely) expect the press crew to cover up for the woeful maintenance situation and produce a silk purse from a sow's ear. It's very demoralizing to have the same problems night after night, due to lack of competent planning and no effective maintenance program, and no one is listening or trying to make it better. They have laid off dozens of people, 3 and 4 at a time, and swore each time would be the last. At least have the courage to warn people that they might not want to renew their lease, or trade in their car.The imcompetence around here is staggering, not just management, but by 20 and 30 year pressman who just milk the clock and are allowed to get by with it, not a word said by our managers. And Gannett froze the pension plan last week.
