Pros

Really well intentioned senior corporate leaders. Livable base wage plus small commission first few years.

Cons

From the producer perspective, you work hard to onboard a client only to realize that there is no way the service team can provide the support that you sold the client (the Enterprise model that corporate trains you to sell your clients on). The OMNI tech platform is basically a presentation builder software that provides suggested solutions to prospective clients. This is great--IF the local offices could actually service all, or even most, of the solutions suggested. In most cases, the local service team cannot execute on the solutions suggested or they do a hack job of trying to string together other options. Your local practice leader will keep trying to come up with 'local solutions' to fill the many gaps between local service team skills and OMNI solutions, while corporate gives you a different message about what should happen. Too many chefs in the kitchen to deliver on promise of quality service. If you are okay with selling filet mignon but delivering chuck round, then this could be a fit for you. If not, look elsewhere. Massive micro-management of producers as a 'metric driven organization'. Micro-mgmt well beyond anything other organizations would find too intrusive to their producers but USI is completely okay with it. Two former management consultants run the c-suite and it shows in their level of detachment from what happens in individual offices. They are good people and well intentioned but with 300+ acquisitions over the last 20 years, there are simply too many local leaders who formerly ran their own companies and are accustomed to doing things their own way. USI claims to have an "enterprise process" to deliver client services but my office was acquired 2 years before I arrived and they were never taught the client service process that corporate preaches. So, of course, they kept servicing clients how they did before the acquisition--just like every other office. Eventually this supposedly gets fixed over a long gradual process but it apparently takes years. Without timely guidance, this leaves each new acquisition or office to determine how to service clients on their own. Thus you have each office running things drastically different even though they preach every client should get access to the same set of local resources across the board. Many of the 'locally embedded' experts are actually several states away and not easy to coordinate. It's simply not possible for them to deliver what they are asking you to sell as a producer. Also, it seems most of the positive reviews here are from brand new hires who just started at the company and are rating the hiring process instead of the company or they are posted from recruiters themselves.
