Pros

Paycheck. I would say company truck but you can only use it for work purposes now. Some people work to be a part of their company AND earn a paycheck. Not here. You will be here simply for money.

Cons

The unreasonable demands of the job. The job is based off of three aspects: safety, quality, production. The quality and production are nearly impossible to do. Tickets are due within 48hrs which you will have at least 40 and up to 100 tickets to complete in that 48hr time frame. Some of these tickets are very simple, most are not. Most are lengthy and require multiple visits. As you get more and more tickets you will get behind and then the snowball starts. (This is not your fault it happens to everyone here.) After the snowball starts quality the second aspect goes out the window. Everyone takes shortcuts to get tickets off your screen only to get more. You will start at 13.00/hr. Which is much to low. One sentence would some up the whole problem for our company.... WE DO NOT HAVE THE MANPOWER TO PULL OFF THE WORK LOAD WE HAVE. The turnover is extremely high so you will never see the same face twice. Contractors are losing money because of USICs inability to get locates done on time. Utility companies pay our company to protect there structures but we simply don't hold up our end of the deal. My days are limited here as are many others. Its a shame. Please reconsider if you have applied. Seniority at this company is anyone with 3 months in the field. We alone have lost 35 people just this year. Sad. We all say "Safety and quality as long as it doesn't get in the way of production".

Pros

Company truck, paid gas, paid training, overtime

Cons

Completely disorganized. New supervisor sends emails and tells employees not to do project tickets then gets mad when there not done, all they care about is production. You are told not to get damages but expect you to hurry threw a locate. New supervisor constantly shuffles tickets around giving you late tickets and gets mad because they are late. If contractor starts digging without you calling the same late ticket you are terminated. Employees are rushed threw training and expected to hit same production level as experienced locators. New supervisor went on a firing spree terminating locators then reduced the amount of overtime you could have and expect the same amount of tickets to be completed as when they had 5 more locators.
