Pros

You have a voice and empowerment to do what you think is best for the customer. The company really listens to its employees and trys to have the best leadership possible. The leadership model is based on empowerment, you don't have to ask permission to get your job done, you do what is best for the situation. It doesn't matter what position you work in your focus is always on the customer. You are never discouraged to ask why the company is changing something.

Cons

Small local carrier, not nationwide, people always ask you about phones. Advancement is hard because people never leave their jobs.

Pros

US Cellular is a company that is still small enough to be enjoyable to work for while being big enough to know they will be around for a long time. They have lots of possible locations in different job levels to work for and apply to, they don't care about what you do, you can easily fake it at this employer without anyone saying anything. In the group I was in you could take time off all the time and just claim you were working from home without any real questions. The salaries were good for not really having to work at all.

Cons

At US Cellular they have a policy they call the DO. The DO is supposed to be a policy for how they do business, well the 1st step of the DO is Effective Leadership, and that is the biggest joke I found while I was working there. The leadership of this company feels power by keeping everything they can a secret, they are in so many meetings all the time that they never know what is going on with their people. I constantly had co-workers who didn't do a thing for days at a time and no one noticed because management was so out of touch with the way the business was being run. Not to mention that this company spends money on so many foolish things that don't better the business sooner or later it will catch up with them.

Pros

This is a great place to work if you are willing to work hard.

Cons

The downside of working in the cellular business is that you always have a phone to answer, no matter what time of the day or night it is.
