Pros

The hospital offers great benefits, great vacation package, sick leave that rolls over every year, and excellent opportunities for growth with tuition reimbursement. Opportunities for advancement are many. They have tried to deal with the Act 10 changes appropriately but many employees are still upset by the change in law. Employees see that they have to pay more for retirement and more for insurance but don't take any of the other changes in the health care market into consideration. The hospital has also included the staff in the decisions being made regarding the unions going away but many staff complain about how they don't want to go to meetings, they just want to do their work. If you aren't willing to have a voice in the change, then don't complain about them. You are being given the opportunity to give input, take it. It is human nature to be concerned for yourself but I believe the employees should be very thankful they work in a stable environment.

Cons

Large institution with many layers so it takes a long time for change to happen, this is a disappointment to many staff.

Pros

Pay is only ok, but is getting worse. WRS and benefits are still great, despite the cut applied with Act 10. Employees tend to be quality individuals, but the environment seems to be almost sterile.

Cons

Treatment of employees is sub-par, but not horrible either. Zero worker protection with the unions gone. I recommend getting into a classified state of Wisconsin position if you want job security.

Pros

Great company, management makes you feel like you really matter. Employee development is very strong with classes and workshops.

Cons

Some departments are understaffed for the current work load. There are some inequities between UW Hospital people and Medical foundation people in the area of benefits.
