Pros

Corporate facilities are excellent. Amazing cafeteria. Gym is always clean and there is a sauna. Miles of paved trails to walk or run on in the summer. Christmas gifts and year end bonuses are generous. PTO system is good. Plenty of good people work here.

Cons

It is very difficult to raise your wage other than a yearly 2 or 4%. Notorious for giving people new roles with greater responsibility but NOT providing any additional compensation. Management will say, "You are doing a great job, wait until December!" Then hit you with the routine 2 or 4% depending on if you are viewed as average or above average. They try to sell they they value you and your family as if you are part of their own but are pretty ruthless when it comes to termination or they decide they don't want you anymore. I never felt completely secure even after two+ years and three new roles. Feedback and communication is poor. I found a new job and put in my two weeks but it still felt like I got fired. "Get your stuff and leave immediately." They are belief driven not data driven. Even if the data is screaming to do something new, if it is not in line with the owners beliefs it is a bad recommendation to make.

Pros

Decent Pay, good job secuirty

Cons

There is no freedom at all. You feel like you are working at a daycare. 16 vacation days sounds good at first but that includes any sick or personal days. The owner of this company acts as if she is running a plantation and the workers are her slaves. Everyone does there best to run in the opposite direction whenever upper management is nearby. Not a friendly environemnt.

Worse than micro management, ridiculous rules

Pros

Uline pays fairly well, at least where I was at but not more than other industries/companies, and vacation time is reasonable.

Cons

I'd call it micromanagement, but it's far worse. If you're on a phone call for more than 10 minutes, you have to explain who you were talking to, and why it took so long. If you have two children, you can have a picture of your son and daughter, but you can't have a picture of your son and a picture of your daughter. Only one personal item is allowed at your desk. If you leave an empty folder on your desk overnight, or a spare phone charger cord, you'll be talked at by your supervisor (I had 4 different levels of managers talk at me about having a charger on my desk overnight). Every year you're expected to go to a rally thanking Liz and her husband for permitting you to work there. When Liz walked through a new building, she noticed that she couldn't see through the building to look at the woods, had the entire floor reconfigured. A lot of moving departments for the sake of moving.
