Pros

Great future plan for this company

Cons

Cliques of witchy women everywhere, no on-board training, manager-employee 1:1's hardly ever happened, do what I say attitudes, learn by mistake not by helpful managers or fellow peers, communication - NEVER.

Pros

Gratis, discount, health benefits, 401k, associates that work for us, potential to be promoted although Ulta really believes in hiring outside talent so "they can bring something new" to the stores

Cons

Information Tech (IT) is HORRIBLE; registers went down this past Sunday for over an hour (and it's not the first time, also happened twice during holiday season), last week the company had a "power outage" at corporate so the stores internal technology systems where down. The response when you call the help desk is a recorded message "IT is aware of the _______ issue and is working on a resolution; there currently is no time frame" What? It's a multi billion dollar company, right? Work life balance as a GM shouldn't be in the same sentence. Payroll is so limited that the managers are cashiers half the week. So Ulta chooses to pay managers higher pay to cashier instead of letting us lead and have a team. We've been told that that's our company's payroll model. District Managers are so biased toward certain people in the store, even if the associates are top producers. DMs expect the rainbow and pot of gold when the company gives us dark clouds and pennies to work with. There's just not enough payroll allocated for tasks which then interferes with us helping the guest. Our true number one priority at the store is to help the guest and teach them about their needs and products but the lack of hours for cashier and task management affect guest service. An example is we had a 24' run of less expensive hair are to set and we were given 2 hours. It takes 2 hours just to move all the shelf sale tags and clean the shelves. Then there's moving the product and setting the new shelf tags which takes time.
