I can certainly see you are very unhappy after leaving UMA. I know UMA is not the right fit for everyone, and our career services program has high expectations of its staff members that ultimately results in employees not making the cut. I can assure you that we do not tolerate anything you mentioned in your post and you should share evidence of your claims with HR. I would encourage you to focus your energy on the next chapter in your career and finding a school or organization that better fits your interests. Best wishes on those endeavors and making a positive impact on the lives of others.

Pros

There used to be a decent starting wage.

Cons

The lack of professionalism displayed by employees and managers alike is staggering. I have witnessed profanities spewed, drinking on the job, and even twerking in morning meetings. Most representatives barely have a high school education and have little to no corporate experience, but this is possibly intentional so that they can more easily relate to the poorly educated student body. Used car sales tactics emotional manipulation are employed to dupe desperate, impressionable, single mothers into incurring tens of thousands of dollars in debt to receive training for positions that pay little over minimum wage and usually do not even require more than a high school diploma.

We’re sorry your employment experience at UMA did not live up to your expectations. While we endeavor to be a great place to work, we know there is always opportunity for improvement. With constructive feedback from our staff and students we support, we will continue to evolve as an organization and achieve new heights as a team. UMA is committed to providing an educational experience that maximizes value to our students in a professional, supportive and ethical environment. We are pleased with our ability to place the majority of our students in the field of study upon their graduation. Additionally, we continue to monitor and track the success of our alumni students with Ultimate Medical Academy. As most of us would agree, the purpose of achieving our education is to find a position that we are interested in, and qualified to perform. We wish you the best in your future endeavors and thank you for your time at UMA.

Pros

- Great trainers - Competitive benefits - Company supplied equipment

Cons

- Unrealistic expectations - Immoral and deceptive business practices (you are not helping prospective students by “getting to know them” then weaponizing their life goals to convince them to commit to a $30,000 mostly unusable diploma/degree) - Company equipment was dirty, smelled horrible, and they needed to send out new equipment - Suspiciously aggressive sales tactics including calling prospective students up to 8 times a day (regardless of how nice or respectful your admissions representatives are this is WRONG) - Admissions reps are trained to not allow prospective students to hang up during the initial call, this includes us being told if a student is at a doctors appointment we should “offer to stay on the phone with them and standby while they wait” so we don’t lose the sale. This is very sketchy and completely uncalled for.
