Pros

Global / Innovation / CEO / People / Environment Global Brand where sell home product in over 130 countries in the world. Great opportunity designing products in variety home categories (More than 10 categories) and for various customers in other countries and stores. People are casual and very nice. One of the best part is people who you will work with. Our global team in other countries, they are always willing to share with design team. Great to learn what product works and needs in other market. CEO always take and support design studio as a top priority. Design studio is located in middle of building where has open window on top. Lots of natural light in studio during a daytime. Working in a unique building who designed by one of famous architect designer. (Head office / Concept Store) The best part of Umbra – Designing products that will be found in other countries when I am travelling. Etc – Yumbra Café in Building, Work in downtown concept store once a week, Free Gym, Workshop, Free Coffee/Tea, Shuttle Van office to downtown, Free parking, Close to Highway, Drive thru Starbucks near by…

Cons

Location / Workload Head Office located in Scarborough, easy to commute who drives. But challenge to commute who is taking public transit. Not much great restaurant for lunch around office if you want have lunch outside office. Amount of Workload is not consistent, you need able to manage your tasks yourself.

Pros

These reviews seem to be dedicated to those who have had negative experiences working at Umbra. From the perspective of someone who has been employed there for many years, I can honestly say that though challenging at times (as all work places are), my personal experiences here have been rewarding. This company is innovative and creative. People really care about design, and there are a lot of smart and talented people past and present who have had great careers here.

Cons

Business decisions often change, as do designs (more than people would like) but there is a bigger picture that not everyone is involved in. This is a big, complicated ship and not everyone agrees with the way it is running, but all must admit that it is growing, and products and distribution-better than ever! This is not a corporate environment....to work here, you need to understand that there are decisions that need to made quickly and that may reslut in interactions with personalities that you may not appreciate. At the end of the day though, you must appreciate the people, the products and the outcome. Sure. There are some things that could be better, and I cannot speak for personal experiences of others, but in general, this has been a pretty outstanding experience for me
