Pros

The people are so passionate about putting out high-quality work. They are driven and confident, and truly value innovative approaches.

Cons

I've never been in a work environment with so much back stabbing, hate and lack of professionalism. The company does a poor job of training employees, which is bad for a "training company." One person can approve something you've done and the next person can tell you the same thing is all wrong. This presents a crazy amount of rework and inability to learn and grow. There's no accountability at the company level for poor clarity on roles, responsibilities and expectations. If you click, you click. If you don't, you're belittled and sent on your way. At least 20+ people have recently left Unboxed because they felt bullied, not valued and realized the place is quietly crumbling under poor leadership. Word is starting to get out about this company. I agree with other reviewers--at the core of Unboxed's issues sits an aggressive COO who threatens to fire people when they disagree with his way and his vision, even if raw data supports an alternate path. I've seen people spend an entire hour crafting a four sentence email to this man, because they've lost their confidence and are fearful of his feedback on anything.

Pros

The people are bright, dedicated, caring, and fun. Even on days when project work proved to be difficult, I felt lucky to be in such good company. The environment is fast paced with high expectations for work quality but offers a chance to set and achieve your own career goals. I was encouraged to try new things and push past my comfort zone. I also appreciated the flexibility. Any time I was faced with a family circumstance or illness that required me to work from home or take time off, I was always assured by my team that everything at work would be covered until I could return to the office.

Cons

The teams are run lean. There were many times when I felt stretched too thin. Thankfully, I had capable teammates by my side. As a growing company, process and management best practices had a few kinks, but there was an effort underway to get those issues fixed when I moved on.

Pros

Unboxed, while incredibly fast paced and stressful, is a wonderful place to work. We have a smart team who looks out for each other, cares deeply about the success of the company and celebrates each others strengths. Although not having a lot of process can be criticized there are those who consider this fact a wonderful opportunity to be a part of creating the company foundation. Upper management truly cares about the team and has a vested interest in the success of each team member. They may not have it all figured out but they are self aware and open to feedback when it is presented in a constructive fashion.

Cons

As a small company we tend to attract individuals who are from big companies, who are small fish in a big pond that have high hopes of coming to Unboxed as a big fish in a small pond. The reality is that as a small, growing company we do not have the luxury of having team members who think this is going to be a piece of cake. We are all growing together, learning together and celebrating together. Those that survive do so because they work hard, are confident, self aware, aren't afraid to be held accountable and are passionate about being successful together. There is no "I" in Team and those that end up leaving on bad terms are usually those who have the "I" mentality. Upper management tends to take a lot of heat from previous team members for not having everything all button up to make their jobs easy.
