Pros

The pay and benefits are great and are the only reason to consider working here. However, if you look around, you'll find other companies offer similar if not better compensation and work-life balance.

Cons

A poor work-life balance, unprofessional senior management who often resort to swearing and threats towards others, corrupted management politics, nepotism, and a genuine lack of real leadership are just a few of the issues that contribute to Union Pacific's toxic culture. I've witnessed my management peers lie during investigations, blatantly falsify information, intimidate employees, cover up sexual harassment, retaliate against employees for reporting unsafe work conditions, and misreport injury and safety incident numbers to the company's senior leadership; all of which are against company policy and are likely illegal. Outside of the headquarters, most people are unhappy with the direction of the business but remain because they lack the education and skills to go somewhere better. Avoid at all costs; there are much better places to work.

Pros

Check gets deposited on time. I work with a great bunch of people who look out for each other. That's because we all endure the pain of working here. The pay is good but could be better. Retirement is great from what I hear.

Cons

This company is evil in so many ways. The new guidance from the CEO has made working here difficult. There is far more enforcement of the rules and they are cutting job where they can. They increase the work load of a conductor and/or brakeman. We still don't have a contract and still, they want to take more from us. They are worried about bonuses and million dollar income. Oh and don't care to take off on the weekend or else they will try to charge you for attendance. Which we can't get a straight answer on. Really the stock holders run this company if they don't make money then they will cut. Oh and over time is a big no no, they cut it so lower management can move up the latter. They make millions off our labor and refuse to give us anything in return. Watch out for the drones they are being used to test.
