Pros

UP will grow you as an employee in your knowledge or skillsets. There are some freedoms in moving positions within UP to keep things different if desired.

Cons

Workload will always be larger than it should be. Teams tend to be understaffed. Hard work is rarely rewarded with anything meaningful. Promotions are given after working the better part of a year (or more) at the new level without any backpay or compensation for overperforming.

Pros

None-people say the pay is good, but they forget railroad retirement takes out more than Social Security. So we might have a good gross income, but the net income below average

Cons

Management doesn’t know what they’re doing. You can tell by the way they don’t really have a growth strategy.
